01 — The Beginning
“Garage 1965” is a rally history exhibition in Liepāja that traces the development of motorsport from the mid-20th century to the present day. The year 1965 in its name is no coincidence: it was the year Mārtiņš Sesks Sr. founded the motorsport section of the Liepāja Dairy Plant, laying the foundations for rally traditions in Liepāja and later organising the first “Kurzeme” rally.
02 — Two Eras
The exhibition features rally and sports cars from different eras — from Soviet-era machines to the legends of Western rallying and modern racing cars. It lets you compare how rally, cars and motorsport culture developed on both sides of the Iron Curtain. Special attention is given to the “Kurzeme” rally, its participants, the machines and the people who shaped the rally history of Liepāja.

The stories of the cars are complemented by historic photographs, documents, racing memorabilia, equipment and other rally-related objects. “Garage 1965” is not just a collection of cars — it is a story about the people, the machines, the courage and the passion that have united motorsport enthusiasts across several generations in Liepāja, in Latvia and around the world.
